What you're getting
Giraffes have this odd way of walking where they shift both legs on one side, then both on the other – nothing like how most animals move. When they actually need to leg it, though, they run like other mammals do, swinging their back and front legs together. They can hit 55 km/h (35 mph) flat out, but only in short bursts before they've had enough.
