What you're getting
The Quarter Horse is one of the oldest American breeds, with roots going back to early 17th-century Virginia. American settlers got their hands on horses from the Chickasaw Indians—descendants of the Spanish explorers' stock—and crossed them with imported English running horses. The result was a horse that did everything the early colonials needed: pulling, hauling, and riding.
