What you're getting
Learn to write with Mr Pencil, LeapFrog's character guide who'll walk you through forming upper and lower-case letters, numbers, and shapes stroke by stroke. You trace on the screen, he gives you feedback in real time, and there's a new personalisation feature so your child can practise writing their own name.
The larger screen now includes a Reading mode too. Use the stylus to uncover words, then run it along the sound-it-out bar to hear the letters read aloud. The stylus itself is designed to be easy to hold, which helps build proper pencil control and motor skills.
What makes this genuinely clever is that it adjusts automatically to your child's level, so they're not bored or overwhelmed. You get the toy itself, and it runs on 3 x AA batteries which are included. Dimensions are 21.9 x 19.8 x 3.4cm.
