Bears are a bit different from your typical carnivore. Their molars aren't built for tearing meat like other meat-eaters' are — instead they're designed to grind down vegetation. Thing is, when you're as big as a Black Bear trying to live mostly on plants, you've got to put in the work. We're talking tens of thousands of nuts and berries a day, which means spending roughly half their waking hours just eating and foraging. Do the maths and that's a nut or berry going down roughly every second they're awake and feeding.
