African elephants are the largest land animals on Earth, and they're a bit bigger than their Asian cousins. You'll spot them by their larger ears — Asian elephants have smaller, rounded ones. Those big ears aren't just for show; they radiate heat to help keep these massive animals cool, though the African heat can still be relentless.

Elephants love water. They'll suck it up into their trunks and spray themselves down, which is about as close as they get to a proper wash. After that, they dust themselves off with a protective coating — their own version of sunscreen, really.
